Plant facility is capable of producing spiral welded pipes for high pressure oil and gas and other requirements, up to 16 meters in length, diameter ranges from 20" to 60" (508mm - 1524mm), wall thickness up to 20mm and material up to API grade X70. We have a team of highly trained operating personnel supported by a group of experienced and qualified personnel. Our state-of-the-art pipe mill is capable of producing between 80,000 MT - 100,000 MT steel pipes annually depending on sizes. To date we have supplied over 1000km of large diameter Onshore Gas linepipes to Petronas (national oil company) in Malaysia.

HPP adopts the unique two-step (OFF-LINE) Spiral Pipe Manufacturing Process. This two step process involves the forming and continuos tack welding of the pipe in one machine and completion of the inside and outside using (Double) submerge Arc Welding on a separate machine. This state-of-the-art process very much more superior than the outdated conventional method where forming and completion of weld is performed in the same machine.

As pipe are only tack welded at the forming stage without having to worry about completion of weld, it is only logical that the geometrical control will be very easy. In fact all pipes at the forming stage have perfect geometry. This is possible due to the following special features at the Forming Station.
  • Computerized Control (Sensor) Coil Centering device to ensure strip feed in is always at its center position.
  • Edge milling cutters to facilitate higher welding speed.
  • Edge pre-bending device to alleviate bamboo effect.
  • Automatic Welding Gap Control for consistent pipe geometry.
  • Continuous tack welding permits high welding speed of up to 7 meters/minute.
  • Plasma cutter permits high speed and precise pipe cut off.
  • The operation of this station is fully automated via Programmable Logic Control (PLC).
As the pipes are welded separately on a specialized machine called "SUBMERGED ARC WELDING MACHINE" the quality of the weld is naturally easier to control. Excellent weld quality is achieved through the following latest technology in build in our SAW machines.:-
  • Automatic Laser Sensor tracking of weld seam.
  • Precise computerized movement control of pipe using Orthogonal rollers.
  • Additional monitoring of weld via close circuit TV for internal and external welding.

The two-step manufacturing process adopted by HPP is similar to that used in the manufacturer Longitudinal welded pipe.

The entire pipe mill machineries and technology of the HICOM PETRO-PIPES was procured from a German Consortium of Preussag and Krupp Hoesch Techna in 1995 and is one of the most modern in the world today. We are licensed by API and also certified to ISO 9001.
